Okay, here’s the situation.
My two previous bows shoot at 50 and 56lbs and I’ve always shot 3555 gold tips with standard inserts and 170 and 190 gr heads. They’ve shot great from both.
My new bow claims to shoot 57lbs but it is backed with skins and I bet it shoots a little over 60lbs at my draw length.
I tried to shoot my 3555s with 170 heads and they flew everywhere. I went to a 90gr head and they flew pretty good but not perfect. Obviously too weak a spine.
I know I have to go to a 5575 arrow and will still be shooting 170 and 190 heads, but do you think I should be shooting 100 gr inserts instead of 11 gr inserts?
Any help would be appreciated as I’ve only shot 3555s.

Check this link out Sean.
It really helped me get my bow tuned when I first got it.

I used to use the brass inserts (and in fact most of my arrows still have them) But recently I have gone back to the aluminum inserts that came with the arrow For 3 Reasons:
1. Cheaper – why pay for something that you get for free with the arrows?
2. More FOC – by going back to the aluminum inserts, I can make my broadheads heavier for the same arrow and increase the FOC just a little bit more.
3. Arrow Footing – I put a 1.25″ (or so) aluminum collar over the end of my arrow shafts which is often referred to as an external footing. This increases the strength of the shaft so that the extra strength of the brass insert is no longer necessary.
Note – the 55-75 shafts are about 2 inches longer than your 35-55’s. I like the extra length. Don’t forget to consider that in your plans…

I shoot a 50# custom, bamboo long bow with a 3555 carbon gold tip arrow. After I added, a 100 grain brass insert and a 125 grn field tip. Arrow weighs 492 grns. My groups fell into place. When I miss I know it is me not the arrow.
