Hello all,
I just had Joe Latsch at Prairie Traditions do an amazing restoration on a Bear Kodiak Magnum. My question is on tuning…any idea where I should brace? Going to setup tonight to start flinging sticks…
Any and all thoughts advice or two cents are appreciated.

I have my Kodiak Hunter braced at 8 3/4 and the knock at 5/8 inches…..i would start at about 7 and keep twisting until u find the perfect height

I second Brenn. Most Bear recurves brace between 7 and 9 inches so 8 should be fairly close, though you’re better to start lower and gradually work up the string twists until it’s quiet and no hand shock. Depending on the string you’re using, you might have to readjust brace height (and thus, nock location) a few times as it stretches. Yeah, I’ve heard nothing but applause for Joe’s work. Wish you had before and after pictures to share. Homer

Smithy — Instructions for posting pictures are at the top of the Campvfire forum. However, by downsizing my photos to under 200kb or so I’ve been able to post them directly from my computer without having to go through Photobucket. At the bottom of the posting window you’ll see “Attach File”; use the “browse” button to select a photo of the proper size from your files and click on it and its link will or should go into the “Attach file” box. When you hit “save” it will post, maybe after a bit of a delay. Lazy man’s way, my way. Let’s see how this one works, last week’s bear track in my “driveway,” at 183kb.
