I’m looking into ordering up a Traditional Longbow as a take down, specifically a Great Northern Bushbow “Jackknife style.

Has anyone shot one of these or something similar?

To answer specifically: no. Otherwise I’m familiar with the jacknife or hinge style and Great Northern. The former gets mixed reviews and the latter great reviews. In other words, so far as I know (which admittedly ain’t very far but as the first responder to your post, I’m offering what little I can), the jacknife take-down isn’t known as the very best but is known as generally workable, while GN is slam-dunk reliable. As so many here so wisely advise us, if at all possible, shoot it before you buy it. ttf

I have the connexion on a centaur that is quiet and flawless. If you do any flying, backpacking, atv, horse packing etc. you will be thankful of the option. Also you can store your prized custom in a gunsafe if you prefer. The only negative is the cost is a little more but well worth it for me.

I got a St. Charles Takedown. It is very similar in design from what I have seen on their internet site. It’s is my go to bow. I think the simple design fits my shooting style quite well.

I have a Fox longbow & a Breed. They are both sleeved bows. The Breed is a recurve with a longbow grip. I really like them. Ron & Debbie King are great people. Ron builds a great bow.

                  Fox Archery makes great bows.
