I picked up a r/d longbow about 6 months ago and I can’t put it down. I’ve ordered all of my equipment over the phone from 3 rivers archery and have no complaints. At the same time I have been searching for local trad-archery shops where I can try-out/see new equipment and interact with other traditional shooters. I just moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and I can’t seem to find any shops that sell traditional gear. There are a ton of archery shops that deal compound bows and accessories but when I ask about traditional tackle I get some pretty strange looks. Does anyone know of any trad-shops near Minneapolis?

Hello there I am a trad/primitive (more primitive) guy, i live in Maple Grove. I build my own bows, arrows, quivers, etc, etc.
As far as shops go, there really isn’t anything in the metro just for trad, the closest is The Footed Shaft in Rochester.
I actually have a small business, i don’t sell bows, i’m just getting started and mostly sell accessories i make. I don’t think i would be allowed to post my business name or website, send me a message if you want to know more.

Gopher, thanks for respecting the forum and the paid advertisers on the site. Since he is asking for specific shops you can state the business name. What you can also do is put your website address in your Profile (right under the words “Traditional Bowhunter Magazine Forums”). That is an option for everyone. All businesses related to trad archery deserve a little plug!
I also would like to suggest G&M Archery. They advertise in the magazine and they are in Benedict, MN. I have no idea how far that is from you 😆 or if they have a store or just do business by phone/web.
