        Hello all.

New to archery, but working toward being ready for fall season next year (2023). Looking forward to learning a new skillset!

Hi John. Welcome to the family. Where are you from and what kind of bow do you shoot?

I’m the Webmother here so if you have any questions about the website or the magazine send me a message. Have fun shooting traditional bows and making new friends.

I’m from the sagebrush steppes of Southern Idaho, born and raised. My first and only bow to date is a Ragim Wildcat takedown recurve. 28# @28”, 68” length. Probably pulling closer to 40#, as my wingspan equates to a 32” draw…

Dang, we’re neighbors. We are between Boise and Mountain Home. Check out the Idaho Traditional Bowhunters (if you haven’t already) to see if there are shoots, events or meetings you’d like to attend.

I’m in Twin Falls. I’ve already joined the Facebook page for ITB; Don Schroeder has been helping me out with form and technique.

Man ……………. You got some good hunting around you !!!  Called my first Mt. Lion in over toward the Pole Creek Ranger Station in Nev.  I even used to have a bumper sticker that said “Where The Hell Is Jarbidge ??” Neat place.

Is Schermeyer’s (sp?) Taxidermist still in Twin Falls ??  He did some work for me a long time ago.  Good times.

Yeah, he’s still around. Jarbidge is a neat little place, though no one knows where the heck it is. I also tend to haunt City of Rocks and the South Hills pretty frequently…

I have been away so long I’m a noob too. Funny I’m in the Twin Falls area now as well.

To all of you new folks …………… Greetings !!!!

I sincerely hope that you all remain active on the Forum.  Be assured that you cannot make some dumb mistake that us ‘old timers’ have not already made.  Sometimes more than once………… or twice.  Another thing, more than once, a ‘noobie’ has asked a question or made a comment that I found so basic that I could not believe that I hadn’t thought of it myself.

Now; …………………….. Question;  Does anybody know of any upcoming 3-D shoots, possibly around N. Mexico, that we could use as a ‘Get Together’  location to fling pointed sticks & tell tall tales ????

I happen to be one of the “repeat” mistakes folk. Sometimes I don’t realize it was a mistake, at times won’t admit it and others it’s whose to say I’m the one making the mistake.

Then there’s the “I can fix this” syndrome.. If I do it wrong long enough it’ll right itself.

Anyway, even after 60+ years of shooting bows there are a lot of times (too many) that the arrow doesn’t arrive in the place that I had intended for it to.

Hang in there. Even a bad day doesn’t ruin my life.

This is a good place to learn and visit and no one dishes out bull or admonishes anyone.

Welcome to the fire!  I look at some of the targets others shoot and ask myself “how do they do that?” Then I dig out my Traditional Bowhunter’s Handbook (available here: https://tradbow.com/product-category/books/) and realize I’m still doing the same stuff I was many years ago. But it’s all fun….

Welcome. You have plenty of time to get some things ironed out. I love archery. It’s such a lifelong pursuit if you want it to be. If you’re not making a mistake, at any level, you’re not shooting. I’ve gotten just good enough that I can’t blame my mistakes on anything other than I goofed! Have fun and feel free to ask you questions here. We all have pockets full of two-cent pieces. dwc
