having been close to live elk frequently in MT, I cannot imagine what might go thru one’s mind when walking up to such a pile of meat and hide if you were alone like Whip was the other year…
It makes these ole bones ache just to imagine…right after the adrenalin rush wears off!

Im shooting a old Checkmate Crusader 54@28. My arrow was a three rivers carbon: I usually use woods, but I didnt get a new set made up this year, so I went with carbons. The Broad head was a magnus. I will get the story put to paper soon.

Only elk I have seen were on the side of the road as I drove in to the forest one morning. Plenty of tracks and very few bugles but I know they are in the area.
