Got out to do some predator calling this afternoon. The air was so dead for a while that powder from my wind detector bottle would go straight up and then come straight back down on my hand. Don’t see that very often.
Called a coyote in on the 1st stand that came in from behind the bush I was standing in front of. 10 yards and no shot. Made 5 more stands that only annoyed some Ravens and then had it all come together on the 7th stand. Spotted a coyote out about 150 yards coming in like he was on a string. Can never get enough of that. The wind that did come up was at a pretty ‘iffy’ angle so when the coyote came out from behind a bush and stopped at 40 yards I took the facing shot. My Super Diablo and Lady Luck didn’t let me down and the 2213 with a Zwickey 4 blade Delta hit the base of the throat and into the chest. The blood trail was profuse & short.
Did the ‘Happy Snoopy Dance’ all of the way back to the truck.
And now ……… It’s time for the good whiskey.

Sounds like fun! Thanks for sharing.
I went for a squirrel walk the other day, but didn’t loose any arrows. It was just too pretty out to go and ruin their day. So I just watched.

Sounds like a fun day Richard. I’ve only had one chance at a coyote that came through the timber as I was stillhunting and I shaved a bald spot off of its back.
I’ve got a racoon fight recording on my caller and have had real good luck with it.

Raccoon calling is something I want to try. I have the fight sound, a river bottom full of ‘coon tracks and the banks lined thick with salt cedar. It’s even in a legal night hunting area.
Sadly ……….. the area is also full of pretty impressive bear tracks and that Unit is NOT open for bear. Calling in a bear is a real rush but I would prefer to have a shooting option.
