Just received this yesterday, from the original owner. He obviously took very good care of it, and I intend to carry on that tradition.
Strung it up and shot it, and it’s fast and smooth. This could become my new favorite. Hard to believe it’s a 41- year old bow in both its condition and performance. Could have spent a lot more on a new bow that wouldn’t hold a candle to this baby.
I got very lucky on this one. It will be heading to the woods for Toms next week…

Hot dogs that is a beauty! 1970 … does that make it a Grayling vintage? I don’t recall exactly when the change took place. How long is it, and poundage?
If you change your mind about liking it, I might be persuaded to give you $10 more than you paid for it! 😛 Somebody had a Grayling K-Mag advertised in the classifieds here a while ago, but never responded to my inquiry. Guess I was too slow on that one. I think this one found itself a good new home, but now will have to work for its room and board. Congrats, Homer.

Thanks. The more I shoot it the more I’m falling in love with it. And yeah, it’s a Grayling. I think the move to Florida didn’t happen till mid/late 70’s?
#50, 52″ RH.
And the worse part? I’m already looking at a 1967 K-Mag to add as well. I think I’ve got a problem…

Homer — $10 above cost for that gorgeous near-antique? What a cheapskate you are! I’ll up your bid to $11. 😛
Smithy — Indeed, many otherwise sane folks suffer from Old Bear Addiction, apparently a very happy disease so long as your family continues to get adequate calories. Of coursre, most Americans eat way too much, so there may be some wiggle room even there. 😆 dp

Haha…

At first I played around within the recommended brace height of 7″ – 8″ and it continued to be fairly noisy and a bit shocky. Then I dialed it up to 8-1/4″ and it suddenly became quiet and smooth (more so than my 60″ Super Kodiak, in fact) with more speed than I would have expected out of a “vintage” bow.
