A few years back I had some cocobolo footed cedars that I finished natural and fletched with 2 natural 5 1/2″ shield cut feathers with a yellow nock. Some of the best looking and flying woodies I ever shot. I loaded them with Zephyr heads and killed 2 deer with those arrows out of a Sovereign Ballistik recurve I wish I still had. I eventually put 2 other feathers on them to make em 4 fletch and they did not fly the same. They are sitting in the arrow rack now.

Gordy from Selway Archery shoots, or at least he did at one time, two-fletch arrows. He always said it worked great. I’ve never tried it but have spoken to a few who have and they insist that they have good results.
Why not try it? todd

If shooting EFOC, man……..you can get by with VERY little fletching with broadheads when tuned well.
On the “arrow flight sound post” I have here I figured out that between the sound of high fletch and not needing it with EFOC I cut mine way down.
The ones I had already fletched 3, five inch shields I cut the height down to just under a half inch.
Two I fletched for “rain arrows” I have 3, 3 inch feathers cut LOW and still flinging a Brown Bear and Grizzly head without any difference in flight.
I stuck them in a bucket of water for five minutes before shooting them to test em. A bad release will make them wobble a bit at first but they are way better wet than the big ones Ive always shot.
Needless to say, for someone who’s shot 3, five inch hard helical for more than four decades I was FLINCHING and expecting the worst. Nope!
I’ll post some photos of them tomorrow if no one laughs 😆
I can tell you it makes about everyone here look at me out of the corner of their eye with this huge ? over their heads!!
I’d have to agree that changing fletching now would be less than a great idea. I’m one of those that also feels the confidence you have in your total set up is not only needed, it’s mandatory. Any change will create “iffy” feelings, or at least would for me. I did this a couple months back and have been shooting them regularly.
Two fletch is interesting but even 3 short, low fletches look “weird” to me so I think I’ll stop there.

With efoc I am now shooting 4×3″ 12″ total feather surface, and I want to try 4×2″ for 8″ total.
I like the sound or the lack there of, of quite arrow flight.
Most guys have way to much feather surface needed to steer there arrow, at some shoots I hear there arrow flying like a flu flu, 5 1/2″ big banana cut 😯
All big fletching does is HIDE bad arrow spine/ tune.
I can bare shaft my arrows out to 60 yards.
The fletching is only there to steer the broadhead and keep it from trying to steer the arrow.
I have tried the 2 fletch did not give it enough testing.
Have fun.

AMEN to that!
The fletch on most of my practice arrows are either gone or worn out. A well tuned arrow does not need much help.

I’ll be the first to admit that I shot five inch high back feathers full helical for a LONG time. Before FOC discussions existed, it was just a normal thing to do for broadheads to “insure” stability. I can STILL show you “proper broadhead flight” websites that still suggest anything less is lunacy.
I altered my post here due to my duplicating lots of it on the thread below and also because I really was off subject discussing something other than two feathers.
Sorry.
God Bless
