I just read Jason Westbrook’s Temptation and Reflection column. It’s pretty much a reflection of the sentiments voiced on this forum. It’s all about choices. It’s well done and worth the few minutes it takes to read. Thanks, Jason. Dwc

          Yep, I thought so.

As I read it I recalled how many times I have told my boy that the only shot you are guaranteed not to regret is the one you didn’t take…. And how that worked out this year.

We sat in the two man stand a bunch this year together (for dad’s sentimental benefit). He let several tasty bucks and does walk by without shooting. In my opinion he had several good opportunities, but passed saying the deer just didn’t give him the perfect shot.

I was getting a bit frustrated seeing the season wind down to just a few days with the need for one more deer in the freezer. But just a couple days before he went back to school he shot a nice doe.

It’s his fourth deer, and he’s made perfect shots on them all.

He’s already a way better hunter than his old man.

Steve, ain’t that the way it should be? Good job for handing down a fine spirit. Best, dwc

Thanks for the kind words. And Steve, congrats on passing on good values to your son.
