Sounds like a worthy endeaver. I’ve heard the Binghams make a really good Bow kit. Hope you’ll post your progress if you choose to do build one.
I have thought about it but, realized my time is already limited. Maybe after re-tirement when I have more time. Make it to next May and I have 25 good to go.:)

I will definatly post my progress, it still seems like a risk, I mean the take down kit is 318 dollars, thats alot of money to chance on weather or not I can do it, I dont have wood working esperience, I have built my own acustical guitar(didnt have to built the body!!) So I have some knowledge, but I dont know, thought it would be cool to take down a feet like this while I am young!?

Over the last year I have been working on making a riser for some recurve limbs that I picked up really cheap at a gun show. Due to the learning curve and a few imperfect fit jobs I have ended up with half a dozen extra risers. I then decided that I would try to build some limbs to fit the risers that didn’t fit the recurve limbs. I have made two of them into longbows which worked really well. I used a fiberglass cloth backing on one set of limbs and fiberglass strips like you can get at 3rivers archery for the other bow. Both worked really well although the strips looked a bit cleaner, though the cloth looked more traditional. Good luck with your project.

GreatTree, you might have some luck looking around for a bowyer that is reasonably close by. I am sure one would let you observe/help in laying up a bow so you would have a good idea of the process involved.

If you lived close to SE Ks. I’d invite you to help.

Don’t know where you live. If you were close, I’d help you. It’s sorta hard and sorta’ easy. Hard in that it sounds real complicated and hard, but easy in that after you do it – a light clicks and you go “okay, that’s easy”. LOL
