All,
Picked up some supplies at Cabelas with my six year old son today. Bought an EZ Fletch Pro with the 6 degree right twist (Very easy to use), AAE 4″ white vanes, and a six pack of Magnus 125 grain 2-blade solids. Haven’t use solids for a while, as the 2-blade Stingers became my go-to broadhead. They seem to spin test very well.
Any opinions regarding the Magnus’ solids? Seem like a pretty tried-and-true design, and they spin test well. Can’t say enough for the EZ-Fletch, very simple and effective.
After re-fletching 8 shafts, my recurve got two new homemade black wool string silencers, and a about a 4″ throat wrapping of the same at each end of the string. While the silencers definitely cut the twang of vibration, I like the throat wraps as they really reduce string-slap.
Do many of you also apply a throat-wrap to your recurve strings?
Thanks,

Mudd Foot,
Not sure what a throat wrap is. I assume it is where the string comes in contact with the bow limb. If that’s the case I usually put some self adhesive felt along the portion of the limb where the string hits. That works well for me in quieting down the bow.

You are correct Josh. It’s basically the portion of the string that is immediately below the nock loops where it’s in contact with the limb. On my recurve this length is about 3 inches. I wrap another inch past, for a total wrap of 4 inches, to ensure the potential area of contact is completely covered.

Hey Mudd Foot
I’ve been having great luck with Bow Hush in the string grooves. Applies just below loops, wraps down string then tucks in neatly. Never comes loose and when paired with their Puffs ( I forgot what they call them) really quiets my Widow. Not sure site name but you search Bow Hush you’ll find them. Cheap too ❗
