Drove up to the San Pedro Parks wilderness area last weekend to have a picnic with my wife and to do a bit of stump shooting.
It was still somewhat green up there but drying out quickly. Won’t be long and they’ll close the forests down.
The Las Vacas was so low that the fish had a hard time finding a place to hide
Abby had to check out my group. I think she had more fun than I did. Never seen such a big smile on a dog.
Good group just a bit to the right.

I always like hiking/horsebackin in the San Pedro Parks Wilderness. Did a lot of it some years back. Looks like they are just as dry this year as the Gila–

May they never impose a season on stumps.

It’s VERY dry! We did get a bit of rain last night though hardly enough to measure. On a related note the Santa Fe National Forest announced it’s decision on the new Travel Management Plan. The new plan will greatlty reduce the number of roads and trails available to vehicles. In addition indiscriminate cross-country vehicle use, which surprisingly has been legal, will be gone. This is great news for one of New Mexico’s most beautiful ares and a real victory for those seeking traditional outdoors experiences.

I hope the Forest service can do something about the overuse in the Jemez. That area is over run with improper ATV use. veritable circus maximus on the weekends!
