        I”v benn looking at longbows on ebay. they don”t seem to have a standard amo string lenght. how does one know? is it simply the brace height,and how is that achieved?

          You can start by asking the previous owner, and/or use the brace height the bow comes with. With a longbow you want it as low as possible until it starts slapping your arm guard and getting noisy. Take it up from there until it quits hitting your arm and you’re darned close. Remember that every change of brace height requires a repositioning of the string nock. Have fun, dave

            I’ll take a stab at this one….
            If it was made recently or commercially made it should have the AMO written on it somewhere. Otherwise depending on the the brace height (avg 6″ – 7″)the string could be anywhere from 4″ to 6″ shorter than the bow’s overall length.

              If the bow length is printed on the bow then the string length will be about 3 inches shorter…Van
