I have to build up my fast flight string on my black widow just a little bit with dental floss to hold my arrow nocks well. I just re-tied it and I guess I built it up a little bit too much. The arrow is really clamping on there. Is this any issue to worry about? My arrows seem to be flying the same and hitting as hard but I’m concerned it may steal a little speed from my arrows or affect my broadhead flight. Anybody ever experimented with this?

I always preferred my nocks a little on the tight side. Early on in my hunting career I think I picked a dozen broad head tipped arrows out of the dirt under my stand. As long as it is not splitting the nocks in the cold I figured it was not to tight. My shooting ability has never been good enough to notice any negative effects from too tight of nock.

            Etter,

Nock your arrow on your bow string, hold bow so arrow is pointed down at ground/, floor if significant other isn’t around, with arrow hanging on string give a quick medium to light tap on the string just above the nock point. If the arrow pops off fairly easy your nock is good, if you have to tap it more than once or real hard then it is to tight.

            Good luck

That used to be my test also until I started down the EFOC path, 450 grains of point and insert upfront a slight bump and they fall free.

I did the same when I applied dental floss. I applied it a little too thick. After a few practice sessions, it wore down so that it wasn’t so tight.
