Ok Y’all, I am attempting to Steam the tips of a stave to get a bend in em. I have made myself a jig to clamp tip in. I am steaming the tip fer approx. 1/2 hour. My question is: How long do I leave tip clamped in the jig to get it to hold? I expect some give as I tiller, but am hopin to retain some of the reflex.
        What has been Y’alls results?

leave it at least until it cools. It would be even better if you left it in the form for a few days until the excess moisture from steaming left.

what type of wood are you bending?

I am bending Hazelnut. I bent the tips some, but think I am gonna give em a second bend, as they didn’t go quite as far as I wanted. Gotta bend the stave at the Handle to line up string. This is my first Hazelnut stave and I want to get it right.
