Here is a St Charles style quiver I built to carry my squirrel arrows. If anyone is interested I could do a build along.

Looks good Duncan. A build along is always welcome IMHO!

What’s the bow? I figured you’d be using that shrew by now…

            Steve,

That is a Samick Volcano 45# @ 28″, the arrows are hickory, some tipped with zwickeys and some with judos. Hit a rock with a judo yesterday and the sparks did fly.

The Shrew is shooting great. I’m shooting carbon arrows with 145 gr Bear Razorheads. Also have a rubber blunt over a blunt field tip for squirrels. So far missed 1 squirrel and have not really been deer hunting.

Can’t beleive I let Oct get away and did not go. Too much family drama these days I guess. It will eventually pass I guess and then I’ll have more time on my hands.

I’ve got some time today, it rained over night, the woods will be quiet and a front is moving in. Perfect time to go!

            Duncan

I’m going out to help a friend find a buck this am. They were moving last night. I hope you had a chance to go. For myself, so such luck. Ref family drama thing too.

What glorious weather we have been having eh?

I’ve missed almost this entire season so far due to a hand injury. Looks like I will miss the rest of it. This is my first season missed since I was a boy. And my first inkling of age catching up with me…

              Thanks for the build along!

Very nice quiver! The seat caught my eye, too. How is that put together? Looks comfortable. Is it a folding seat, and moveable from tree to tree?

                  Steve,

Thanks, I hope you guys find the buck. Well it rained so much over here I did not go. Sorry to hear of your injury. If you have a self bow maybe you could try shooting lefty!

                  Dubois,

The seat is based on a design that was in Field & Stream or Outdoor Life, can’t remember which but my Uncle showed it to me in the 70’s and we built some of them. If made carefully the 2 sections will nest for transport. I’ll put up some pics with measurements for those who might want to make one.

I leave them in my hunting spots laying them down so other hunters won’t easily see them.

Thank you – I’ll be looking for it. Can’t wait to have an option that is comfortable while waiting for a deer. Those folding canvas camp stools always seem to cut into my legs in the wrong spot and my leg goes to sleep! (And my 6 year-old son would probably hold still more if he was comfy, too.)

I enjoyed the build -along Duncan. good idea to have a separate quiver for different types of hunting. Your bow is so well camoed that if you set it down in the leaves, it might be hard to find !!

Yeah, I like the Tamarack bow sleeve, it blends really well.

Are you still sending the build along for the quiver? 😆

It is in a separate thread. you may need to search farther down the archives or just search St. Charles Quiver.
