I have been in bow making mode for a few months. I have built 8 bows for friends. This last one was one I wanted to build for myself. 62″ R/D 59@ 28″. Bamboo core wood, Spalted Maple lams, Bocata overlays. It shoots smooth and fast.

        😀

Nice group too! 8 bows in a few months is a lot of bows…

As the rest have said , beautiful! Nice shooting too. I also like the way you made the riser with an even BALANCE to the shape ,,,,,,,,,,NICE!

To my eye too many longbows are made unattractive by their oddly shaped handle/riser. Probably doesn’t effect shooting though.

Your bow is both beautiful in its wood and shape.

                Steve,

Eight bows is too many bows to build for my schedule. It just so happened that after I made one for a friend and some others got to hold it and shoot it they developed a new passion for bows. I was excited at first at the response of people who had never shot bows and I over committed myself. I am going to take a break for a bit.

In regards to the tight group…That is kind of a funny story. I was testing out the new bow and my 18 year old son was shooting with me. I put a leaf on the bag and stepped back to about 15 yards and handed the bow to my son and said, “hit the leaf and the bow is yours” – He proceeded to put his next two shots on the leaf. Which is not typical for him…I expected him to get close but not hit it. I then shot and put two more on the leaf. We had a good laugh because I rarely hit like that. We decided to share the bow…

                          Cameron,

Like I’ve said before, that’s one nice looking bow. Be glad you jumped on those veneers. I doubt I’ll ever find another piece of wood with that much character. The only thing I have remaining from that wood is afew sliced veneers.

                            Troy,

I will be picking up some additional lams from you and I may want to grab what you have left of the spalted maple. I have a couple guys who are drooling over it and asking for one similar.

Beauty of a bow and a nice shooter.

That’s one fine bow, and you are quite a craftsman. Congrat’s.
