I was watching a whitetail hunting show on TV and after seeing a buck the hunter made a sound that in written form would have sounded like this (fffftttt). Has anyone every heard of this?

I have not heard that. Was it quick or slow. I’ve heard of using the snort/wheeze as a means of calming deer. I have only heard various grunts, snorts, bleats and who hasn’t been nailed by the blowing doe

It was probably the tail end of a snort wheeze call.

The hunter used a grunt tube and then made the sound. It’s something I never heard. Just curious.

I think it is called the ‘snort-wheeze’ and I’ve heard it one time in the woods. I watched a big buck do that just before he started stiff-leg walking toward a slightly smaller buck. He got the total attention of the smaller buck when he did that and he looked quite intimidated by it.
