Well.. yeah ok I’m guilty. Every now and then I turn on the Outdoor Channel, particularly on Tuesday Nights, to see what’s going on in Ted Nugent Land. 😆 I always figured if Fred Bear supported him, he can’t be all that bad. 🙄 But, I don’t take anything he does seriously usually, He just cracks me up.:P
Tonight’s show however was no laughing matter. 👿 He’s hunting Backtail’s in Northern California, a beautiful 6 point buck (12 if you count both sides) comes in. For Blacktail’s definitely anyone’s buck of a lifetime. Anyway, Ol’ Ted he shoots this deer right on top of right hip. Then he tries to B.S. his way into telling everyone they are happy and recovered the deer last night, no video, no pic’s nothing. 👿 BUT Ol’ Ted, he’s back in the stand next morning, 😕 a nice 8 point comes in.. and of course Ol’ Ted couldn’t have GUT shot this deer any better if he tried, camera’s going, guts are protruding from the deer, 👿 and AO Ted, shoots this one in the HIP on the second shot too! Then the Idiot Ted says, Oh yeah another one down. Always thought he was nuts, but he’s plain off his rocker!!! Certainly, has no regard or respect for what he hunts, and he definitely shouldn’t be bow hunting. 😡 For the record.. yeah he’s still a cable & wheel guy too.:)
The Anti’s do not need anymore fodder than this! Given this travesty, they have a valid argument. ❗

Its is hunting and stuff happens. If you have never had anything bad happen to you like that you have not been hunting very long.
I watched the show also and yes I thought my gosh he needs to see if his sights got bumped off but I dont think you have the right to say he shouldn’t be bow hunting. I watch his shows and that is rare what happened in this one.
If you videod your hunts would anything ever happen that someone could say man you shouldn’t be bow hunting?

All do respect.. I resent those remarks. Quite frankly, I’ve been at this for over 40 years. I don’t need to be preached to about “stuff happens”. As I have said in the past, I have taken a shot or two that I have regretted, but I have never regretted, not taking a shot!. This show and his actions were out right wrong. And it is not just the shot, it’s his actions and total lack of compassion and respect.

Stating a point isn’t preaching. Sorry if you think it is. I thought we could both share our opinion.?.
As for your comment about it isn’t just the shots but the way he acted. Both of his first shots were within good bow range. What happened with shot placement we will never know and his reaction was one of excitement and adrenaline for what just happened. If you watch it he says it was a bad shot but a shot he is certain will get the job done.
Maybe he regrets his shots but not taking the shot just like you have?

My two cents, Ted Nugent sucks. Period. His whack em and stack em attitude is completely disrespectful to the animals. He is the biggest egomaniac I have ever seen on the Outhouse channel. I can’t stomach the man or his actions. I love Fred Bear, heck my second son’s middle name is Bear after Fred, but I don’t care if he supported such a pompous jerk. Lately, I have really been working on not being so judgmental but Ted Nug ruffles my feathers more than anyone. I have never considered him a real hunter. He conducts most of his shows on canned operations, not hunting at all to me, but outright killing, nothing more. What a shame that his show is one of the most watched on that channel, says a lot to me about the sad state of modern hunting today. Sure, Bad shots happen to the best of us but to glorify them the way that maniac does makes me spitting mad. Okay, I am done ranting. I wish he would just go away. ❗

“So.. I think this is Goodbye. I’ll keep my opinions and such to myself from now on.”
Steve, I hope not. Please continue to express your opinions. I appreciate it. You are definitely worthy to make such comments, I don’t think you said anything out of line anyway. My post was the most outrageous and heated. -
SteveMcD- Don’t say goodbye yet, at least until the Good Lord wills it- we need your experience, insights and plain, heartfelt common-sense in this miserable age of pc.
As for me, I can’t stand to watch the Hunting(sic) pornography channels- johnny2’s right, hunting is not a spectator sport- do you think that’s one reason why we are attracted to traditional bows and ethical hunting?
Ted Nugent- Don’t listen to his music, rocknroll is too cacophonus for one in his 6th decade(been there,etc.). Haven’t read his books or watched any telebubba shows but have heard him on radio interviews several times- might want to cut down on the caffiene but his view on 2nd Amendment issues concurs with mine so I’ll gladly welcome anyone of any persuasion as we need all the voices and help we can. But what you witnessed disturbed me greatly, to say the least, is not only the TWO hipshots and GUT shot on two magnificant deer that I assiduously hunt here in the PNW but his PMB(poor miserable bastard) attitude when his crappy shooting is caught in flagrante delicto on public TV is beyond redemption. Hey Ted, put down the guitar and go practice with your portable-nautilus-machine until you can at least hit the deer in a humane, lethal spot. And be embarrassed and contrite when you screw up. Was it possible to see the nose rings and rope leading the deer past his hunting location or did they edit it out? Did he say he was aiming for the femoral artery for a fast bleed out?
My tender-hearted sister feeds a herd of elk in her backyard, she’s anti-hunting and especially anti-bowhunting because of one incident she witnessed of an elk herd crossing the White river across the street from her house. One elk was screaming frantically in obvious pain because of an arrow- sticking out of his neck in an obvious non-lethal(at that time) wound. Whether the bowhunter missed or the elk moved at the shot, we’ll never know- but our actions, and inactions, have consequences beyond our horizons.
For example, I routinely pack a handgun in the boonies(legal CPP) but it is always concealed so as to not offend the Goretex crowd, of which I try to avoid, not always successfully- Hey, Mommy, that man has a GUN!!! However if one of them is attacked by a cougar, I’ll be the first one there to put them out of their misery-That’s a JOKE folks!
Sorry you had to witness that Steve but glad you reported it to us- some of us have to go into the belly of the beast, hard as it is,to speak the truth no manner how many slings and arrows of outrageous fortune we endure. Good job!
Good post, Tdowning- now could you tell us how you really feel!
From this side of Crossfire- Bert out. -

WHEW, that’s a relief!!! I thought maybe I had drank some of the koolaide, and was beginning to actually agree with some things you say!

Naw, way too seriuosly taken. You can like who you want!! LOL Ted is a great firearms preservationist! He takes Crossbows and other things out of context by confusing them with a right to own perspective, compared to whether or not they are a Bow. Well, they are NOT a Bow, and should be properly defined by Game and Fish Agencies! Simple ain’t it? Well OK, now you know LOL. As far as the OUTDOOR CHANNEL, set your clock to watch Eichler, and one or two others, thats it! While you are not watching Fred, watch some of the good old movies or How it’s made, on the science channel. 🙂

STEVE!!! say it ain’t so bro! You can’t just quit ’cause somebody disagreed with you. OK go cool down some then come on back. We need your expertise and experience.
For the record I don’t subscribe to Nugent’s brand of sportsmanship, if you can call it that.

Steve, the hero worshippers come out of the woodwork now and then, and will support the most outrageous stuff. Hang in there partner, and don’t worry about situational ethics…it’s prevalent nowadays.
