Are any of you guys near Silver City in Western New Mexico ??  The Mangus Bowmen are having an informal club shoot there the second Sat in Feb. (the 10th)  I’m thinking about heading over just to shoot and say ‘Howdy’.   Would love to meet some or any of you folks.

Sadly, I ended up not going. In a conversation with one of the members I learned that they only consider ‘Traditional’ to be shot off of the shelf.  Their range, their rules. Another club that I’ve shot with is getting away from NFAA equipment rules and has decided that traditional does not include adjustable arrow rests.  A club in Globe hath decreed that bowquivers are allowed but only holding a max of seven arrows and if a bow quiver is on the bow a hip quiver is not allowed.

However, competing three fingers under with an arrow length set to put point on at 25 yards so that the point of the arrow is always in the kill for aiming is allowed.

Sorry for the soap-box rant but I’ve shot NFAA equipment rules for decades.  Now, I would need to set a different bow up for each club I shoot at.  I enjoy the competition and the comradery   but it’s getting to the point that it’s a lot more fun just roving the sand washes where I can take cow patty shots more than 30 yards with my hunting bow.
