Hey carbon I’ve seen Hawks catch and carry Squirels. I’ve seen them get bitten and have to drop the large Fox squirrel.Birds of Prey, exactly.

That’s awesome! Especially to get it on film. Nice back yard you have.

By the way, when I saw the title of your post, I figured it was a reference to “Escanaba in da Moonlight”. Lol!

This bird wrastled with a bass, while making circles over the water. my backyard is just… a subdivision…?? with a common pond. I have endeavored to capture every bird species possible on film back there, and to my delight, succeeded in positive capture of this one!! others..include green heron, blue heron, GH owl, fliker, two types of white herons or egrets, double crested cormorant, cedarwaxwing, rettail, tVulture, bluejay, cranes, and canada goose. whoever woulda thought!!

Thanks Patrick! Its turning out to be a nice back yard indeed., Hiram, Hard to top a good bird of prey sighting like the squirell one, I recal seeing a red tail with a snake one time long ago, and I did see a GH owl fall out of a tree on a mouse while bowhunting, the owl looked like it was stuffed, and sliding on a wire down to the ground, and I heard the mouse squeak his last!what fun we have eh.

The wife and I were running down the lake one Sunday and saw an Osprey catch a small carp. As I pointed it out to her an Eagle came down and took the carp from the Osprey. We were as surprised as the Osprey was. Their aerial battle only lasted a few seconds, the eagle regaining flight just feet from the water.

sounds like a marty stouffer moment!

‘meanwhile the struggle for life goes on, here an eagle sees opportunity in the success of an osprey’

                    great sighting!
