I have not been able to use the corner of mouth anchor and use the string as a reference without catching my nose in the string. Hurts like hell. So I use the arrow as a horizontal reference instead. So far it has worked pretty well.

String blur is more of a left/right head position check than a sight reference. It works well with a vertically held bow, but not so much with a lot of canting.

And I thought it was just my big nose getting in the way 😆 I’ve also found that it is only possible to use the arrow for horizontal line up when using the corner of mouth anchor. I’ve been training myself for instinctive but find I’m getting better results with a split-vision style – I think some call it the Hill style?

Yah I tried to shoot instinctive for the first year or so as well. Just couldn’t get consistent. So I went split vision, and like you have gotten much better results.

                I find, I can shoot “pure” instictive well [ small tgts/area ]

out to 18+-yds. I shoot “split vision” from there to about 25yds { max Hunting under perfect conditions}. Further{ if you can refine your accuracy at long range it tightens your closer shots imho] than that and just for fun/practice, I gap.

Yea , It is a little different – but works for me.

Makes sense scout. I’m finding a that a little more canting lends itself well to split vision shooting giving a nice “sight line” down the shaft. Thanks for the comments guys.

                    Wexbow —

Roger that — I use a slight cant rt of vert [I am rt handed]for distance /accuracy. I also practice an extreme cant almost horizontal to limit my silhouette, when raising myself to shoot over low brush [sage]. In all variations my rt{master} eye is over the shaft.

Typically my “eureka moment” came about partly by accident – I noticed that when I was practicing kneeling shots and had to cant more significantly to clear the ground my horizontal accuracy greatly improved. Practicing from a variety of hunting positions does more than just cover potential situations but improves overall shooting IMHO.

Yes and Yes – I think so too
