Well, here I am, back in NYC after living among deer, bears, coyotes and rattlers in the mid Hudson Valley for 16 years. Work is a priority these days. My much better half and I found a 3rd floor apartment in the Inwood section of Manhattan, directly across the Inwood Forest, which is the only natural forest in Manhattan. So the view from our windows is not unlike the view from our windows in Garrison: Green stuff. The major differences are that, while I’m sure there are plenty of cool draws and ridges in there, somehow the place doesn’t appeal to me for a pre-dawn or sunset excursion! Plus, I’m pretty sure the NYPD wouldn’t be very pleased to find a camouflaged, bow & arrows toting individual roaming around the local woods, even if they admired my beautiful 56″ carbon/foam Classic Hunter! So, I’m resigned to shooting indoors at 5 yards in my black hole target, but, as long as the Shrew is making it to New York City, I can make it anywhere!!

Good luck my friend. Have fun practicing your form. I too live in a similiar, communal, situation. I live in a townhouse community. I find much solice down in the garage shooting diagonally across. It doesn’t do much for distance practice but my form is great, or so I think. Take care.

Inwood by the Cloisters. That is where my father grew up. Used to be an Irish neighborhood, for most who came off the boat. Somehow I don’t think the NYPD would appreciate you you stumping in the park! Well, you are not far from Fahnestock and the Hudson Highlands for deer season.

Best of luck! I am really glad to see you touring again.

Ok. work hard, go on tour, then give yourself a hunting vacation to look forward to .

Alexandre — great to see you posting here again, a good sign that life has mellowed a bit for you. Your 5-yard practice may not be as pointless as it seems when you recall that a couple years back I kilt one at six feet. 😀 You are fortunate that you naturally smell like an elk, which seems to bring them to you. 😛 Looking forward to Sept. as always.

Alex, for those who don’t know, is a world-class jazz composer and pianist, which may be why his finger control in the shooting glove is so precise, or vice versa. As a hunter and human, he is a welcome antithesis to that loudmouthed guitar playing wheelie-shooting canned killer whatizname. Turn on your speakers and google Alex Bugnon (say Boo-No) and fish around the many links and you’ll find some great music and a few live video segs. Only things I have against Alex are that he uses sugar in his coffee and likes it warm, prefers wine over bourbon, doesn’t shoot flaming arrows during his concerts, and consistently outshoots me. 😛 dave

Yes Steve, a very famous Irish neighborhood. I saw a few Irish bars there, but the Irish population seems to have dwindled a bit 😉
I still have all my favorite hunting spots in Garrison too, so I’ll be all set!!

Yes, kyu-do style, 3 yards, eyes closed, for months and months, working on the release as smooth as snow sliding off the tree leaf:D

Don’t feel like the lone ranger, lol, I had to go back on the road trucking to laredo, tex. from S.D. I do get to see a little more senery, and carry my kodiak with me but am to busy to even shoot it most days. I was trucking over in your N. Y. C. area a couple of years ago and there are a lot of wooded areas around there to hunt in and around new commercial and housing areas if you check it out on google earth. GOOD LUCK!
