Yes….I have a big yard . The first video is at 60 yards; 40#, Carroll’s Takedown Recurve…1969’ish, 58″, and shooting 29″, 2016 arrows w/145 grains field points. Works out to just over 12 grains of arrow per pound of bow weight. By the way, these bareshaft right to the middle of the target at 50 yards….when I can hit the middle, that is.
Second video is five shots starting at about 12 yards and walking back to forty. Still working on my bow arm consistency, but it’s coming along. At 65 years old it’s not quite as easy as it was at 35….but it’s still as much fun. Just click on the photos for video.

mikelee, I’ve been at this for five decades so I should be on the bale pretty good; however, the body doesn’t always behave like it did thirty years ago. 😉 Back when we shot field rounds all summer we were pretty good at those long distance shots. Stay at it….you will get better as you work on that form, especially a good followthrough…keeping that bow arm in place through the shot sequence. And, once you do get into that fifty yard target, you will find those short targets becoming second nature. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Great post George. I am fixin to set up a range at my workplace soon, so I can throw a few downrange before work and during lunch.

Wow ! wish I had a backyard like that.
I can only manage a safe 20 yard rangeShooting at longer ranges really helps becoming the arrow you can see the flight to target.
It also shows your limitations as to reliable killing range. But when you launch that sweet arrow that flies true
at 50 yards….:D it feels really good. and no sight pins or
rangefinders needed8) -
I am fortunate to have lots of space as well. I just got a round bale this past week and am starting the long range shooting. The round bale is about the best archery backstop going! Mine is about five feet both ways. It gives a little more backing for that long range shooting. Which I’m not very good at but plan to learn:wink: The bale is good for broadheads as well.
Good shooting George ❗ Good to see in real life how someone else does it:!:
