I have a 50# Bear Kodiak Magnum but at full draw since my arrows are 31″ im pullin about 60 to 63#.
I just recently purchased some Grizzly single bevel broadheads. I looked and looked and looked for an arrow to support the 175 gr broadhead until i found Easton 2419 Camo Hunters. Its the heaviest aluminum arrow they make. After researching the weight, the finished arrow including the 175gr bh comes out to about 661.6 grns!! But im expecting pass throughs everytime!! What yall think about the set up?

If she flys well for you, you’re good to go. There are however several CARBON shafts but I’m assuming you knew this, that will support way more and keep the weight sane AND give you a high Front of Center.

Your weight isn’t “really” odd here on tradbow, lol. Im shooting 660 grains….from a 45lb bow. Several others here, Kingwouldbe, comes to mind if I recall right, is shooting 780? or in that area.

On some of the “other” trad sites, I am the cause of several sad head shakes from those that are of the light arrow persuasion.

Ive never found a trad bow they would shoot well from but, I have some no longer made shafts……if you wanna talk about HOG shafts. 2440 aluminum….…no, that’s not a misprint, 40 thousanths walls and around 1000 grains at 29 inches with just a snuffer on the end. They are over 30 grains per inch. LOL

My Grizzlystik Alaskans for my 55lb bow are 770 grains. Ive the tip loaded up heavy to get a EFOC on both set ups. Roughly half my arrow weight is point, adapter and inserts. My EFOC on both is right at 25 percent.

I and many here are subscribing to Dr.Ashby’s suggestions this year obviously to give it the ol’ field test.

EFOC (20percent or more), smaller diameter shafts than the head’s ferrel, (plus tapered shafts in my case),over 650 grains of total arrow mass and single bevel heads.

That heavy of arrow should give you great penetration, I’m sure, but if you haven’t done so yet???? Check out the EFOC threads here and Dr. Ashby’s report.

If you already have, forgive me. No one expects everyone to shoot the same set up, least of all me.

          POST HERO PHOTOS!!!

          Hunt safe and God Bless,
          Steve
