Well, yes. I found another Shakespeare recurve bow to play with. This one is a 1975, QT Takedown, just received yesterday. It had some really ugly crinkling of the finish on the limbs, so I sanded that off…filled a few stress lines and ovesprayed with flat black. The riser is fine except for some glue residue near the bottom from a self adhesive wrist sling that someone had used.
It shoots great…I have a D-97, 12 strand string on it. It’s 45#, AMO 60″, and this riser I do believe was made by Owen Jeffery for Shakespeare. The first two years of the QT Takedown (73 and 74), the riser was one of Phil Grable’s designs…in 75 they went to Owen’s riser and once more in 76. In late 76 Shakespeare left the archery side of the business.
