        Howdy Archers!

While tuning with Crystalshrimp something else came up.

Does anyone know the stiffness difference between a Beman ICS Hunter 300 and a Gold Tip 7595?
        Are they both the same?
        Also…
My Goldtips are set up to shoot 225grns up front. The Bemans are currently getting set up for 360grns up front. The way things are gong right now it seems that I’m going to wind up with tyhe same length arrow. I shot the Goldtips with 350grns up front and they seemed to fly fine.
Can an arrow have that wide of a range of use or am I just wishful thinking?

        Arrows:30 1/4″
        Draw:28
        Draw Weight:58lbs
        Thanx in Advance

          Bully26,

Beman shafts are the spine/def. labeled on them. Gold Tip 7595 are supposed to be 340 spine/def.

Now, as not to sound like I’m bashing any brand I will state that when you buy GT shafts you can get a wide range of spine/def. Some people say different, but I’ve tested 100’s of them and thats why I want use GT shafts.

Sorry guys if I do sound like I am bashing, you may feel different. That’s why I tell everyone to shoot what they like.

I could go into futher detail on this, but I may have already said too much.

If your happy with what you have then I say shoot it…

So then the GT’s aren’t as stiff? The Bemans are 300’s. 300 is stiffer than 340 right?
Maybe I should have gone with a lighter arrow. All my current ones are at 30.25inches. I could or should try something in an 8grn per inch cut to 29.

I started this sport because I thought it would be simple. Did early archers deal with this? Just a stick and string Tater… just a stick and string. I should hav just kept making ships in bottles… much easier.:lol:

              Ships in a bottle easier?

Dude thats the best laugh I’ve had all day…:D

When your talking deflection, the lower the number the stiffer the shaft.

Biggest question is what type arrow setup are you looking for? EFOC and for sure UEFOC is best gotten with light gpi shafts. Learned that one myself the hard way. Otherwise you can get UEFOC, but your arrows will be pushing the buff weight arrow setup.

I tried 340’s and the best I could get was approx. 25% EFOC. Anything heavier and the shafts were too weak. You may be able to get better results, I often have a sloppy release and that requires more spine/deflection.

Since you stated that you should have tried a 29″ arrow then I’m asumming your draw is less than 29″. If so, I would expect a 340 to have enough spine for you to easily get UEFOC arrows.

                Troy,
That is exactly what I did! The first day of tuning I had some GT 7595 at(I think) 8.6 GPI. Just for the heck of it I put the 260 Abowyer on it. At first I shot close up then backed up. I wound up shooting at some 3d’s with confidence at about 15. I said what the heck today and paper tuned those. BAM! At 3 ft was only nock high! Went back to ten yards and was darn close, one shot was maybe nock low.
Wed. Ill shoot again and tune accordingly. I might either just have a shelf to fletching issue or I may have to just lower my nock.
What a huge relief! Shooting with confidence was a huge factor in my decision.
Thanx a bunch for your input.

                  Bully26,

If your using brass inserts and a 260 heads you should be getting pretty good EFOC. It wouldn’t take very much to bump that up to UEFOC. I’m finding that UEFOC shoots as good if not better than EFOC out to 25yds. I’m also seeing an increase in penetration in my backstop target.
