I am looking for a lightweight, comfortable, and quiet tree seat or stool to use for pack in bear hunting. What do you like? My buddy has a hammock seat and its great except that it limits mobility a bit. They would be better for compound shooters.

I gave you a lightweight, packable stool for ground hunting two years ago. Guess you really liked it.

The hammock seat is the best thing I’ve found for a lightweight, packable and easily adjustable tree seat, by far. I also find that I can rotate quite a bit in it. But if you find something better, I’d love to hear about it!

I am going to have to agree 100%….I saw the hammock seat on this thread last year and new I had to get one. It is absolutely incredible.
Before that I used a tripod seat that I got at Mills Fleet Farm. Adjustable height and 360 degrees and I want to say I purchased it for 20 dollars or so.
Hammock seat is my #1…..Tripod #2

Etter et al, have you considered just adding your sleeping mat to your day bag and sitting on that? I regularly spend hours at work sitting still with my bum on the ground and using a tree as a backrest. You can stretch your legs out without making too much sound or movement and you have an automatic back screen and if you’re building a hide you only need a front screen a couple feet tall.
The only drama is that you’d have to move a bit more to get up on a knee for a shot. I haven’t figured out a way to shoot from a sitting (on the ground) position without massively short drawing, which is probably ok with a heavy bow at short range but not ideal.

The hammock seat arrived today. WOW!
After a few minutes of playing around with it, I went from out-of-place, six-foot biped to forest predator with the click of a buckle (gotta work on muffling that.) First twelve shots left me smiling. I definitely feel more like part of the woods, and like many others I can attest to its comfort.
Thanks to all who recommended it here.

Stikstool I frequently use a hiking stick or staff in the woods and afield. The Stikstool is a nice three piece staff that reassembles into a tripod stool. I have the aluminum model. The seat and other parts pack into a small mesh bag. The seat height is lower than I would like, but otherwise I have no complaints about it. I offer it up as another possible option.
I actually got mine for painting outdoors on location. I have an easel that fits in a backpack and mounts on a tripod, also in the backpack, and didn’t want to have to lug a chair about with me.

I have found myself using my tripod seat quite a bit so far this season to tell ya the truth. I love the hammock seat and use it every chance I get. I have a couple of hunting spots thou it makes more since to use the tripod just because the trees do not have a wide enough diameter. I am sure that once the leaves start dropping thou I will be switching to just the hammock seat.
Hammock seat is by far the most comfortable seat but the tripod seat is my next go to seat. Its low and has adjustable legs on it. I have two that I bought from fleetfarm.com for $20. Well worth it!
