Well well well, look what I ran into this morning! He’s a nice 8 pointer in velvet, big body like a mule deer or one of those midwest corn fed whitetails I see on TV! I don’t recall seeing such a big deer in this area before! I was running/scouting an area on a big mountain called Mt Beacon, trying to find a good spot closer to home than Garrison because of the baby. It looks like I found it! I also found a cool site with a nice view of Beacon, Newburgh and the Hudson River, where I could possibly camp overnight!

Looks Great!
The old noodle ain’t what it used to be, but I think I ran around that area when I lived near Fishkill back in the mid ’90’s. Could that be? Dang familiar.
I saw some little bucks back then. Thought I’d be hunting there, but got moved by the company before I could start. Beautiful state, NY.
I had a house in Rinecliff, up the hill from the train station as I recall.

Yes Steve, Beacon is between the river to the West and Fishkill to the East!

Well then shoot that big boy for me! He’s probably a great, great, grandson of the wee little spike I was watching back then 😀

Great scouting photos! That does look like it requires further investigation, bow in hand. That rack could make a nice mobile over the crib. Go get em! Best, dwc
