I am the owner of three John Schulz longbows and recently discovered i will probably not be able to shoot them in the future. Im trying to get an idea what the approx value of each would be.i really cant find any listing for these bows to get a comparative price off. 1ea. American longobow 4 lam bamboo with dark brown glass56″ @26″ 65″ long overall black leather grip very very nice condition 2. The legend another 4 lam bamboo with brown glass69″ overall 70#@28″ absoloutly beautiful condition

the jewel of the batch this is a schulz Natural all wood no glass its makde of three lams of Tonkin bamooo its flawless no sweat stains on the redish suede grip original arrow plate. i picke dthi sbow up about ten uears ago and it was so beautiful i strung and shot it a quiver of arrows and then hung it on the wall it wa just to pretty to get all messy its 803 2 29″ 68″ overLL Length to me this is the most beaultiful longbow iv ever seen. im not trying to sell themhere dont get the wrong idea just get an idea what they may be worth. i seriously doubt ill eb able to shoot them again.

Smithhammer, I know what you are up to! You can’t hide behind your PM’s. We all know your game…

            Bad Bad Smithhammer!

I sure would like to shoot that brown glass bow… Never shot a shultz bow. Hope someday I can.

Thaks for the info. i really hate to part with these bows owning them was a many year old dream but if i cant shoot them they should go to someone who can and will appreciate them. they are some of the sweetest shooting bows ive ever shot. Ive owned a lot of longbows in my life but these and other built by Schulz trained bowyers just seem to work for me. thanks again.

Not at all, Steve. There’s no backroom wheeling and dealing going on here. I already have a bow on order and I’m not looking for any more at this time. 😉

Codger – if you get a chance it would be neat to see some pics of the Schulz longbows.

If you look up John Schultz you can see some of his work. A series is being auctioned on another site and the opening bids are impressive. I’ve seen a few of his shooting videos and snjoyed them. Dwc

i had issues with my Camera ill dig out the other camera and take some. the bamboo Natural is really pretty to look at and it shoots like a dream although it a mans bow 80#@29″ This is by far the smoothest shooting longbow ive ever shot and i have shot a lot of bows and owned about 35 longbows! i got hooked on Bamboo when i visited Tim Meigs up in Carson city around 20 years ago up until then i was shooting production bows like the martin pioneer and Sky longbow and doing pretty well in competition. Tim built my first two custom longbows i will never part with them.

Codger, you can email them to me at webmaster@tradbow.com and I’ll resize them for you. They are probably too big.

Later that day… 😀 Posting codger’s pictures below. His text, not mine.

I believe this model was called a Natural but I’m not sure. This bow is all wood no bamboo four laminations. its 80#@29″ its says the Tonkin on the riser and Thunder on the top limb. This is the most Beautiful Longbow ive ever seen and ive owned quite a few and shot a lot more. The pictures just dont do this bow justice.

                                    Wow. 😯

Codger, I’d be hesitant to give an exact dollar value, but I would expect those would command a very good price, esp. the “Natural.” Especially given that Schulz is basically retired from bow making at this point, and the last round of bows he made are being auctioned right now well above $1k and even $2k.

You have some fine pieces of history there, my friend – I wish I could afford one!

The bows are beautiful and like many of you wish I could afford one or just shoot one. But again

I have to give another attaboy to Mom. She took the time to give Codger our view of those bows–What a site! Thanks Robin:D

Thank you very much to the Mods for posting the pics for me and resizing them for me. i consider myself to be very lucky to have found these bows and to have aquired them. being a huge admirer of Mr. Schulz it was a mission for me to find these bows and learn a bit about them.I have been undergoing eye surgeries and will soon be able to see if I can actualy shoot a bow again its been a couple years same with riding motorcycles. the new glasses are on order and my eyes have stablilized so im hoping to be able to hit the range and maybe even a bale again. Im glad some of you could appreciate these fine bows. the Natural just blows me away whenever i give it a good look over and dust it off. its a shame to not shoot it but I believe its too nice to take a chance on damaging. i have never shot any of thes bows in public im wondering what the response will be from other Longbow shooters when i show up at the range with one. thanks again to all!
