Glad to see an article by Connie Renfro in latest TBH mag.

Worked in CO from 2000 to 2003 and I was shooting the Shelly Sykes Memorial 3D shoot in Monument.

I started out shooting alone at the first target and there was a group of six ahead of me on second target.

The lady in the group walked back to where I was and asked if I would like to join their group. I agreed and was warned not to take any ribbing seriously and feel free to dish it out too. They were out to have fun and weren’t even scoring arrows. That always works for me.

The lady was Connie Renfro and she introduced me to her husband Gary, his brother, Mike Hayes of Black Canyon Bows and a couple of other guys whose names I have forgotten.

I had a great time and took a lot of ribbing about being a Texan. But I was able to quiet that a little by pointing out I was in CO before any of them were born. Having been there to live at 6 months old in 1947. My Dad had stayed in the Army after returning from the Pacific after WWII and was stationed at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital.

These guys, and gal are a great bunch of folks and a real credit to our sport. I want to thank them again for the opportunity to spend time with them.

        Thanks Folks.

        Rusty, back home in Texas.

Great story! I really enjoy Connie & Gary Renfro’s stories in TBM. They take it down to perosonal level sharing their experience and feelings. Very easy to spot Class when you (see) Read it!!! 8)
