Does anybody here know how to pull the tusks from a Boar skull without damaging them?

If they are like every other animal on earth… Let the scull decay in a safe place. Once all the flesh is gone, all the teeth can be easily removed…

Never done it but how about putting the head in a big bucket of maggots and leaving it for a couple of weeks?

            Ask a taxidermist or dentist?

Run out of ideas now, Mark.

I know a teacher at the local high school and a few years ago he took a deer head into the biology department where they have bugs that will eat all the flesh off the skull for a great european mount. The tusks would probably come out easier when done.

What are you going to do with the tusks?

The dentist will need a strong wrist:lol:

Well I figured I would slide them into the band of my Aussie hat, you know to add some good ju-ju. Would also like to do that with some Porkupine quills. Just have to find the Porkupine first.

I cut the lower jaw bone in half and threw the part with the tusks into a pot of boiling water for several hours- the tusks pulled right out and the nerves inside the tusk slid right out on a piece of wire. make sure you try to get as much tissue off the bone as possible before you cook it down.
(don’t smell real good but it does work)

Turoc is right cook it down get all flesh off then fresh out of pot yank on them. If you wait tell it drys then the jaw bone will have to be cut to remove them. The tusk flare towards the end. The bigger boars with big tusk sometimes you still have to cut the jaw bone.
