I have been thinking about setting up my 35# recurve for small game hunting and was thinking of setting up my point-on for 35 yards. I will be using a gap meathod of aiming and was thinking if I was to set the point-on at the 35 yards my gaps would be very small for shots less than this distance. My question is would I work with my nock point and arrow rest height to get this point-on distance or retune my arrows? (jim)

Not quite that simple I think. Your Point On (PO) is determined LARGELY by where your arrow nock is in relation to your eye. At least that has the greatest effect on PO. Nock point and arrow rest height don’t have a lot to do with it. Arrow length can help as can slowing your arrow velocity. But the biggest factor to reduce PO is nock below eye distance.

That’s why many move to 3 under shooting as compared to split finger. That will reduce your Point On Distance the most.

Very much what Moebow is saying there.

If shooting split finger, go to 3 under. If that’s not enough, go to a higher anchor as well. For example if your anchor has your index finger somewhere in the neighborhood of the corner of your mouth, move up so get your middle finger up there. This will not only give you a closer point on, but will do more to reduce the size of your gaps for distances closer than point on.
