This is the story of a bow that I thought was lost, and after almost 2 years, is new again. I know it’s cleche, but I’m calling it the phoenix bow story because my vocabulary is pretty shallow…
Anyway, the bow was a real favorite in it’s short life of 1 spring and summer. It had many uncountable thousands of shots on it when it failed, but alas, it did die. But not before being bloodied with a beaver blood. It was to be my hunting bow for the year, so I had to scramble to find another… The following pictures show the one critter the bow killed, and how it looked after it cracked.

I left the bow sitting around till after hunting season, then I started fooling around with it. I ended up glueing the crack down and putting a peg at the end of the hole.
I then shot the bow for a year, and had friends shoot it so that after a year, it had many more thousands of shots, and seems to be cured. It lost no weight in the process, and shoots as well as it did before breaking.
SO I refinished the bow, added an arrow head to the riser, and am giving it to my neighbor. He is a master fly fisherman who makes some realy pretty cane flyrods. He has borrowed bows from me off and on for several years, so I thought I’d give him one of his own. Maybe he’ll send a flyrod my way 😀

“Back from the ashes…” Great story. Be well.

Steve — Which one of the two animals in that first photo is the beaver? 😛

Well Dave, that’s easy. One of the animals is really good looking, and the other one is the beaver 🙄
