Hi Folks, still deerless in the Poconos. Seeing a lot of deer but have not had a legal on come into range yet. They don’t quite have to be sitting in my lap, but it helps. I’ve see a couple nice bucks, a couple spikes, a couple red foxes and last night a good sized bear came by at dark. There’s rain now and the temps will drop again tomorrow evening, so I’m figuring that’ll be a good time to be ready.

This year we get our first Sunday to hunt archery. Next  year, we won’t have to mail in those beloved pink envelopes for antlerless tags. I have to say, I’m gonna miss it. Been doing that for 53 years. I’ll miss the excitement that goes along with it. Now it’ll be another cyber effort. What the heck, it’ll probably make getting a tag easier for some who have struggled and who can argue against that. I seldom fill all my tags anyway.  My cousins used to hunt on the other side of the state, so they’d saddle up to put their pink envelopes in the Brookville post office box Sunday night before the Monday sale of a limited amount of tags. That was about an 8-10 hour round trip for them to make sure they got a tag. Oh yes, the good ol days. best, dwc

Hope you have some time this week. Sitting in the house encumbered with too many responsibilities. I’ve been seeing a buck or two lately moving in rut mode from the LR window. With the weather changed to cold here in Mi you PA guys will have it tomorrow most likely. Go get one! Have a great time.

Sounds like you are having an enjoyable hunt. All the G&F orgs are going computerized out here in the west. The E tag thing is kinda odd , hard to use well in some areas.

I Didn’t draw anything in NM. Az is now only giving out a limited number of otc tags for archery deer, used to be a reliable option for a yr like this.

Killed my 1st archery deer with my Shakespeare Ocala ( Bear razorhead) on the Letterkenney Army depot in 1970. Very much enjoyed hunting in PA in the “Olden Times”…

Have a great hunt , good luck on filling your tag…

Yes, it’s starting to get chillier here now. Glad for it. It was nice to wear wool in the woods again this morning. First time I ever hunted on a Sunday. No deer were harmed in the making, but I’ll get one soon. Have til Friday with the early archery. Last night when it got too dark for my eyes, I lowered my bow down and was getting my quiver ready to lower and nice big dear walked right under me. I thought it was my bow in the leaves and it was that deer, less that two feet from my tree. Figures. That’s hunting!

Was that deer snickering as it walked by?

I hate it when they do that.

It was pretty dark, but I think it was sticking it’s tongue out.

I almost sprayed tea all over the keyboard when I read that!
