Was ten yards from two does. Too bad it was a buck only unit. But that was exciting. More so because I was still hunting. That’s the first time I ever got that close to deer still hunting. 😀

My home hunting area is earn a buck, and I have no buck sticker. So I went to the best place I know of for does tonight. And, no doe show. I really hate this earn a buck crap. But living in a CWD area, the DNR thinks that this is the ONLY way to cut the deer herd. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. I’m grateful that the deer season has finally opened here in WI.:P

Congrats on getting that close to a pair of does. Like WIcanner, I hunt in a CWD zone. My daughter and I saw no deer this weekend, but I managed to fill a turkey tag yesterday morning.

On my day, I had four Does come within twenty to twenty five yards, I made a blunder and hit my treestand with the tip of my bow. They froze and so did I. After several minutes of trying not to breathe, they calmed down and started to move. Thats when they got spooked by a noise up the hill. They took off and all I saw was tails. It was so awesome. This is my first time hunting, it was incredible having them so close.

Good luck to you too Tom.
Fun to get so close you can hear them breathe, see the beads of moisture on the hairs of their chin, and to even see their pupils dilate when they focus in on you. Then you know they are close! Their eyebrows raise a little when they realize that you are trouble and bolt. Who could possibly not find that exciting.
Going out tonight to a different spot. Hope the rain holds off.
