I have some 13/15 yr. old carbon arrows that seem to be in fine shape. I shoot them a bunch and have never had a problem. They were about the cheapest one’s at the time so they are not the quality of some of the newer ones. My question is, is there any reason to fear using them longer. Is there a “life span” on carbon arrows?

          I wouldn’t think so as they’re pretty much an inert material…of course molecular scientist I ain’t 😀

just flex ’em and listen/feel for the crinkly sound. No sound, no problem. Look ’em over for any lifted fibers too. Just to be safe.

Good point Steve….in my training wheel days I’ve blown up my fair share of carbons…not pretty. Those splinters are next to impossible to get out ( rubbing side of my hand now from something like 12-15 yrs ago 🙄 ). And if, God forbid, it blows/splinters on a critter, you must excise and disregard quite a bit of meat to be safe. That being said, I’ve never had it happen recently….when they were new 20+ yrs ago was different story. Been shooting them for long time, currently MFX & Grizstiks and I aint given them up anytime soon ❗
