First of all, the new issue is fantastic. Well done, well-written, well-photo’d, and well-editted (all the things we have come to expect and love).
However, while perusing it, I noticed one author missing from the list. Hmmm…
So, I took a look inside at the manifest. I checked “contributors”. Nope… odd. Then, I checked “Campfire Philosophers”. Again, nope.
No David Petersen? Let me repeat… NO DAVID PETERSEN?!?!?!

I certainly hope that this is a mistake, or a one-article only thing, or that Dave’s about to get a “franchise tag” or something … but wow.
Hey, we all know Dave can, does, will, and probably is supposed to ruffle more than a few feathers. That’s what curmudgeons do. Dang, he’s the closest thing we’ve got currently to an Ed Abbey, and Ed sure rankled many. Yet, most of Dave’s rants are entirely on point and they are all well written and well reasoned. Dave’s spoken more for some of us that we can ever for ourselves, and I’d hazard that there are MANY out there who have read some of his stuff and went “yep, and damn I wish I had said that”.
Dave’s also done an incredible amount for bringing new trad shooters into the fold and for helping those of us in the fold continue along the path. His guidance is as gentle as his diatribes are as vitriolic, and that combination is powerful medicine.
Hey, if Dave has decided to step away, then someone break out the bourbon, the scotch, and the haul ropes to bring him back in. If not, seriously, what gives?
