Has anyone ever taken a Texas Nilgai with a Trad Bow? If so, please post some pics. If you have any experience hunting these elusive animals with Trad Bow, share some tips on Equipment used. Bow Poundage, arrow weight and BH’s. Next year I plan to hunt these Bulls on the refuge. Need some advice.

Never hunted them but want to. I have several friends who have with rifles. They are tough animal to take even with rifles. I would recommend a set up the same for I would use to hunt Elk. I would take quartering away shots I believe their vitals sit higher in the chest like african game. They also visit their same dung piles is a good place to ambush one. What refuge you plan to hunt in Texas. Also check with texasbowhunter.com they have a trad forum you can inquire some firsthand experience. Good luck.

I have not personally taken one, but I have butchered a couple. The are big heavy bodied animals, very tough hunt;
however, they are just about the best eating venison meat you’ll find anywhere, and plenty of if. Tastes like venison, a bit richer, just plain delicious. if you score, it’ll turn you into a nilgai junkie. -
Well I did a search and now know what critter you folks are talking about. Kinda looks like a HUGE Goat. Are they free range in Texas or only in preserves? I hear Texas has all sorts of critters like Gemsbok and Blackbuck (?) and such, but I can never tell if they have a feral population or if they are all ranched.
