I’m a relative newbie to the trad bow. I’ve had a #30 recurve for years that I plinked around with from time to time, recently got a hand-me down #50 recurve that’s real short and hard to draw, but I love the thing. I’ve been practicing a lot, joined a club, got a hunting license. I’m suddenly very hungry for bow-info. Can anyone recommend any good bowhunting / archery books?

Mike Mitten “One with the Wilderness”

Bryce Lambley “My Neck of the Woods”

Anything by Gene Wensel, Jay Massey, Rodger Rothaar or David Petersen. You can’t go wrong with any of them…

One of your biggest and most constant sources of info on the subject will, of course, be within TBM.

Many great suggestions above as well! Find them all in time.

If you have a complete interest in our sport and history plays a big part, I’d also suggest any of the Traditional Bowyer’s Bible issues out. Many can be picked up reasonably on the auctions.

They are a combo of hunting, history and bowmaking from various authors chosen for their expertise in several fields.

                G. Fred Asbel is another that will always keep your attention focused as well, in books or articles.

                Enjoy!!

“The Traditional Bowhunter’s Handbook” is a must! I JUST got it a couple days ago, and I have to say the guy who wrote it seems to know what he’s talking about . It’s a great book, with tons of information. Another reason it’s so good, ESPECIALLY for the beginner, is that it’s a launching point to steer you into your next book, whatever or whoever the subject, due to all the book and video references. There’s ALOT more to it than that though.
