        Alright,

I got my new 64″ Toelke whip SS. It is sweet. 53#@32″. I will get a pick up soon. looking for everyones opinion. The CE heritage 350 shaft with 350 up front bareshafts like it has feathers. The total weight is 745. The 250 shaft with 200 up front flies equally well and is at 575 total. I don’t know which one to go with. 745 is really heavy for a 53# bow. Is it past the point of diminishing returns? I am hunting elk, i shoot 675 total out of my 61 lb elk heart and it blows through them. Is 745 grains to heavy for 53#.

        Thanks,

        DK

One well respected elk hunter who has stepped into the shadows of this forum would have you go heavy. Other well accomplished hunters would say it’s overkill. I suppose the right answer might be, heavy is fine as long as you are shooting it well. Of all the factors that determine a humane kill, hitting your mark is the first order. Best of luck, dwc

congrats on the whip . I shoot a 700 grn arrow out of a 53# bow and they shoot great. I put all my weight forward and get great flight. Shooting a centaur bow and gold tip shafts.
