i stumbled over A john schulz longbow on ebay last week the seller didnt appear to be an achcer and listed the bow strangley but i had a saved search that showed it up.

I ended up winning the auction and picked up my second Schulz longbow. My first is an all bamboo with hickory riser no glass bow 80#@28″ a real sweet shooting bow i ran one quiver of arrows throuhg it and hung it on my home office wall its in new condition even though its been around a while John hasnt built these for some time from my understanding and no longer builds bows at all. my latest aquisition is 56#@26″ which at my draw length should put it in the low 60s range this one is s trophy hunter also in like new condition at least from the pics and description. Ive been searching for a second Schuz for three years and finally found one! I intendt for this one to be a shooter being glass laminated i figure it may hold up to some use at the range. I won several other longbows built by bowyers who leraned from mr. schulz and really like that style of bow. ill post pics when it arrives! If i could only shoot well enough to do this bow justice id really be pumped.

              Codger –

              You did Great!

I owned a couple of Shultz Longbows in the early 70’s [ my first]they were the best “Hill” type Longbow Inmo, at least for me in those days. .Shoot great/look great — Unfortunately no longer have one, my last one got broken in a move, sadly. . A good college friend of mine has 8!!.I need to trade one off of him, now that I am thinking of it.

              Scout.

I watched that one too, Codger. Glad you got it. Very good price for a Schulz, IMO. Wouldn’t sell my Trophy Hunter for that. Great piece of history there, enjoy it!

Well my friends it appears that i may have been scammed on ebay! I still have not recieved the bow and had a more than heated discussion woth the seller yesterday he had assured me it would be deliverd by then! Evidently this genious didnt insure the item and shipped my regular mail! like i said Genius! We shall see if it doessnt arrive today ill start proceedings with ebay for a refund. you know what they say if it sounds too good to be true! i just couldnt let that one slip trhough my fingers if it was a real Schulz bow we shall see. Ebay is always a risky venture ive doen well on bows but got nessed over a few tiimes on motorcycle parts etc. ill will repot back as things develop. If it does arrive ill ge tsome pics online ASAP.

Sorry to hear about that mate. Fingers crossed for you. Hopefully it shows up, if it doesn’t I hope you get your refund. Did you pay through paypal? They will just refund you then chase him for the money. I’ve been screwed on ebay before and paypal were great.

WEll late friday afternoon my bow was delivered! The seller wasnt scamming me after all. This poor bow must have sat ina corner for many years she was dirty the string had probabaly never seen wax since it was made but Yahoo! its a sweet heart i dont own a scale but i think Mr schulz had an optomistic scale the bow is marked 56#@26″ so i would figure maybe 62# at 28″ its pretty stout compared to my buws built by a Schulz graduate that are 72#@28″ this bow is a bit stouter. but im so pumped it shoots incredibly smooth and accurate. Its a Tropy hunter 64″ nock to knock. I can now die a hapy old fart owning two Schulz longbows is mre tha i could have hoped for this has bee a six year Quest. Owning a Bamboo Natural and now this! the Nastural is so perfect i dont use it i know its a travesty but the new one is s shooter thatds why i bought it. Can someone tell me how to post pics? i took some thismorning anmd tried t take them in 640×480 so they would fit.

Ive got to go shoot everyone have a great weekend and good shooting.

yes, You get the Gold star–

good movie – a lot of classic lines-

A western with Lee Marvin, Burt Lancaster, Robert Ryan, Woody Strode, Jack Palance, and last but definitely not least Claudia Cardinale. Great Movie for those long Northern Nights—-

Woody Strode uses a longbow —after Burt gets saved by woody’s bow he remarks ” Makes you wonder how we beat the Indians”?

I had to resurrect this thread. I just picked up a Howard Hill Tembo made by John Schulz! AND it was named “Sagittarius”. How cool is that! A link to Hill, Schulz, and Swineheart. It called out to me so I had to have it:D This bow has to be loaded with Mojo!

Can’t wait to try it out! I have heard from both previous owners and the word on the street is that it shoots exceptionally even when compared to “other Schulz bows” those fellas had….

I’ll post some pictures when I get her!

                                        Who else shoots a Schulz????????????????????????

I have two other longbows made by a schulz graduate and they shoot very well but the Schulz bow is even better! I was amazed becuase the other two were literally made for me! for some reason this type of bow agrees with me it shoots so well its scary at times. my groups are tighter it takes less concentration to shoot well. i thought it was just me but im convinced there is just something about this bow. I just saw another Natural on ebay buy it now for $1200. I got my natural for $400 with shipping and its like a brand new bow

I got my second Schulz bow 4 lams of bamboo with brown glass over it for $425 including shipping. The one thing ive noticed is Schullz bows are heavier draw weight than whats marked on the limbs but i like shooting high poundage. but my bow is marked 56# @26″ and its way shouter than my bows built by a schulz graduate who made very fine longbows that scaled out at 72# @28″ but the performance is worth it. this bow literally shoots where i think i want the arrow to go and after shooting longbows for most of my life off and on thats amazing to me. I guess back in the day men were men and arrows needed heavy spine weights.

My Naturaol is marked 80#@28″ and its a really stout bow to be sure but its like brand bew so i dont use it much. I could never replace it so it hangs in my home office most of the time. I must confess all my longobws shoot better than i do! every tie i think ive found the best shooting longobw on the planet i get one that shoots better but I think ive maxed out now.
