After Troy Breeding posted the thread showing the new RMR style recurve he built for himself, I sent him an email asking if he would build one for me. He just sent pics to me of the finished product this evening. The bow will ship tomorrow. Below are the pics Troy sent to me.

          Wow, Bill – that’s a beauty. Specs?

And ‘nice work’ would be an understatement, Troy.

                Very nicely done Troy !!

I think your rendition of the RMR has much cleaner lines than the original, and is a very sleek looking, beautiful Bow —

The bow is 62″, 49#@28″, Bubinga and Curly Maple riser, actionboo limbs with black glass, Bubinga and Curly Maple limb bolt pads and black and white Phenolic limb tips. The first pic is the finished bow before Troy applied the steel wool to mute the shiny finish. The second and third pics show the bow strung and after he applied the steel wool. I should get it Monday or Tuesday and I’ll be going to The Archery Shop on Tuesday to set it up and shoot it. I’ll report my findings afterwards.

You can’t tell it looking at the pics, but I had Troy build my bow full width, 1-3/4″, and cut the window 3/16″ past center. I’m more interested in the bow being spine friendly for hunting than I am having it satisfy limitations by one of the shooting organizations for tournaments.

                    LOL!!:D:D

                    Bill, Bill, Bill,,,

Looks like your going to get a little surprise…

The final weight ended up at 49# @ 28″.

The Riser is some really fancy grain Bubinga and Birdseye Maple.

This was my first shot at building one full width so that the sight window could be cut past center. I had my doubts at first as to how is was going to look. After finishing it I can say you really have to look at it to think it’s not built with the reduced width riser.

Like I said in the other thread, it was hard to send this shooter to a new home. My bow hand had to be slapped acouple times just to turn it loose.:D:D

                      Troy,

That’s a surprise I can handle. Actually, 49#@28″ is a good weight for me!

Thanks for slapping your hand and letting the bow loose so it could come to me!:)

I picked the bow up at the PO this morning. I took the bow to The Archery Shop, unpacked and assembled and then shot it. The bow is very smooth, very quiet, very fast and shoots where I look.

It is a GREAT shooting bow! 🙂 And the pics don’t do the bow justice. The craftsmanship is top shelf!

How beautiful the bow is and how well it shoots is exactly what I would have expected from an old master* – Mr Troy-

Well, the bow is going to be even more beautiful soon. I shipped the riser back to Troy and he is building me a new set of limbs that will be 62-63″, 45-46#@28″, Walnut cores and Eastern Red Cedar veneers under clear glass. I can’t wait to see the new combination!!

Now that I have the riser back Bill may be out of luck..

I knew he couldn’t have me shooting a fancier bow than his.:D:D

Just waiting on the glass to get here. Then it’s going to be a close race as to which of us has the prettest bow.

I’ll be taking additional pics, posting them and filing a report on the new limbs when I receive them early next week!

                                            Bill,

I think your going to be really happy with these new limbs. I put about 30 arrows thur them before finishing and the bow was really smooth.

I just started putting the epoxy sealent on a bow that hopefully my wife will shoot.

I also got the glass in today to finish the dark birdseye bow. After that I think I’m through building for a while. Havn’t really had time to get used to the “Flame” bow I plan to hunt with this year.

Hunting season is just around the corner and I have several other things to get finished before then.

I picked the bow up at the Post Office this morning. I took it to The Archery Shop where I opened the package, assembled the bow and shot it.

Suffice it to say, the pics don’t do the bow justice. The Cedar veneers are a great combination to match the figured Bubinga and Birdseye Maple in the riser. And the bow is very smooth drawing, very quick and a very accurate shooter to boot. Troy did an outstanding job on this set of limbs! And the riser speaks for itself!

I’ll try to take some pics Monday and get them posted.

Below are 3 new pics I took of my new Breeding RMR T/D recurve with Eastern Red Cedar veneers on the limbs.

I might add that the antler limb bolts were built by Frank/Shelly and the string is a new Brownell XS2 flemish string I built for my bow. I added beaver balls to the string for silencing material.

                                                      Troy,

I love antler bolts and have had them on all of my bows. A set would look great on your new bow.

I’m going to take some more pics with the bow disassembled and post them. I took some earlier today, but I laid my camera on the ground while I disassembled the bow and the camera lens apparently got a bit of moisture on it. The first three pics I took, all with the bow disassembled, were very hazy. 🙁

Wish you were a bit closer, I have a ton of black walnut that we had milled down several years ago, sitting in back stall of the barn, just waiting to be turned into a nice piece of art.
