Courtesy of Bruce Smithhammer! Thanks, bro! Right now, I’ve just put it on my Shrew for show, but it will find a permanent home on my self bow by Paul Brunner pictured below!

Very Nice Alex, I have not heard Paul’s name mentioned in a long time. He used to post on Trad Gang but I do not spend as much time there anymore. Do you have more pictures of that self bow? The teasers look great.

Glad to see you’re getting good use out of it, brother! And yeah – I’d like to see more pics of that Brunner bow when you get a chance as well!

That is a real beauty. I love the handle wrap. Looks like ankle skin. Thanks for posting. Dc

Alex – that is a very cool bow, to put it mildly. How does it shoot?

Thanks guys! the grip is beaver fur, the tips and arrow shelf are from kudu horn and the back is prairie rattler from around Paul’s Montana home. It shoots great although I need to bring it to a self bow connaisseur to figure out if my top limb has warped a little and needs fixing. It is 60#@28 and I don’t let anything but wood or cane arrows touch my self bow!! 😀

It was a great day when I killed this doe with it, minutes before sunset on the last day of the ’05 season!! My first and only kill with the bow! I was shooting compressed and tapered cedar shafts with my favorite Zwickey eskimo b’head!

Alex, very cool bow. I have been wanting a self bow. I wish I had more time to learn how to make one…
