I am a sucker for bamboo and osage, and a dear friend of mine, Charles Jefferson of Virginia recently made me a longbow….it is a bamboo backed osage longbow….45# at my draw length of 26″..it shoots as well as it looks! It is becoming my go-to bow, and I believe it will be with me on most if not all of my hunting days this season….some pics….

        even took it stump shooting!!!!

thanks, Charlie…and I still can’t believe it was his first attempt…..

No kidding, that is one good looking bow! How long did it take for you to make it, in man hours…?

                        Congrats on a sweet bow!

                        But a 3-D stump?!? That’s a first for me. 😆

What a great way to bring in the fourth / shooting a new long bow ! What a classic looking bow / the craftsmanship looks awesome from the photos. Nothing better than osage and bamboo in a longbow.

What a beautiful bow. It will serve you well, I’m sure.

Question for you, where did you get that stump?

                              😆

                                thanks, all…

lyagooshka..it is an actual 3D target from Rinehart….but at $225 way out of my price range! Our archery club bought that one….

                                  Lee,

Wow, I always thought “stump shooting” was more of a trad thing. For a club to drop that much on a “stump” means they’re really into the whole trad thing. I think I gotta hop on 222 S. and pay ’em a visit. 😀 Again, great looking bow. Have fun.

                                  Alex

                                  🙂

Lancaster Archery Club is not a trad club. The stump goes along with a bear target, but canbe purchased separately. The club just thought it would be interesting. We only have about three trad shooters. We do get a good amount of trad shooters from other clubs. That said we’d love to have you down some day to shoot. PM me if you want info!
