        Hello all,

Being new to Traditional I need some help. I am wanting to buy my first bow and have my eye on a Browning wasp that appears to be in great shape. It pulls 40 pounds at 28″. My draw length is 28″. The compound that I am putting down is set on 60 pounds. My thinking is that I want to pull less poundage to make sure and develop good shooting form. Does this sound good to yall and what are your thoughts on the Wasp. I think I can get it for around $ 60.00.

        Thanks a heap!

I’d buy it just because its only 60.00!! But seriously, what is the AMO of the Wasp? Is it a short bow? Could you shoot it before you buy it? If it is a short bow you want to make sure there is no string pinch at your draw. But heck, I’d buy a 60.00 bow, shoot it awhile and look for a heavier one. You would probably be OK with 45 to 50 pounds to begin with and it is well documented that 40 will take whitetail.

            Thanks Duncan,

I’m pretty sure AMO is either 56 or 58. And yes, I do intend to shoot it before committing to it.

            Thanks again!

40 Lbs. is plenty for Whitetails. Use a Heavy Broadhead (125 to 145 gr) and keep your range close.

I’m with Duncan, for 60 dollars if the limbs are straight it would be tough to pass up.

I agree with the other guys … 40# @ 28″ is plenty for whitetails. I’ve a hunting buddy who regularly kills whitetails with a 40# longbow. And $60 sounds like a good price for a starter bow.

                  Good luck.

DD, I just looked at two Browning Wasps on ebay & they have them as 56″ bows. They do look pretty nice.
