About 5 months ago I found this Hollenbeck at my local archery shop and fell in love with it. That particular shop recently moved from Sand Lake to Rockford, MI (right by my house) and the bow was still there!
Rip and I shot a few quivers through it and decided that it was too good a bow not to go home with me.
I’m a straight limbed longbow kind of guy but something drew me to it. The other oddity is that I prefer a 66″ bow due to my 30+” draw and this is only a 60″. Doesn’t seem to pinch for me at all. It’s an absolute naildriver at 56# and smokes a wood or 2018.
I couldn’t be happier with it. Roger Hollenbeck really knew how to build a bow. It’s a shame he isn’t making them anymore. I wish I knew the story behind it!

Indeed. Black Dog Outfitter is the name. Tom’s shop used to be called “Wilderness Dreams”. He is primarily a Predator, Bear, and Dwyer dealer, but seems to get his hands on some outstanding used bows.I wish I knew what woods went into this. I thought I saw some bloodwood in there. I wish I could get into contact with Roger to find out.
