I am quoting from an email I received from the National Association of Forest Service Retirees.  This is SCARY stuff!

“This may be a first of a kind message to all members because we are now in a first of a kind crisis with our National Forests and other Public Lands. We need you to take action now.The Energy and Natural Resources Committee language chaired by Senator Lee of Utah would require the sale of at least 2-3 million acres of BLM administered and National Forest System lands within five years. This could be just the beginning of an effort to dispose of America’s public lands.

“Many organizations and individuals are mobilizing to stop it from being included in the final reconciliation bill. Every phone call and email to your Congressional delegation will help. That is what I am asking each of you to do.”

We need to contact ALL of our congressional people, senators and representatives, and push back against this.  If you haven’t heard about it before, check it out and do something!

Called both my Senators and followed up with emails just yesterday.

There is more going on here than meets the eye. Do a quick search on UT Senator Mike Lee and you’ll see acquiring/selling public land has been his goal for many years. This latest is simply a facade to acquire/sell public land. Anyone who thinks this is geared toward “affordable housing” hasn’t done their homework.  This is a collosally bad idea.  And we haven’t even touched on the other aspects of the ‘funding reconciliation bill’ such as Ambler Road.

Central question: are you going to miss the public land in question or the development that would take its place? They aren’t making any more public land……
