        Hey everyone!

Some of you might have read the unfortunate demise of my beloved Shrew CH in January. I decided to go back to a longer longbow and called Black Widow. I asked Roger Fulton if I could get white trim instead of red, and have the bow stained as dark as possible. He said no problem, even though I was ordering a PL V and not a X. Such nice, great and agreeable people, the BW guys!!

Well today I received a beauty of a take-down PLV Ironwood, 62″, 57#@28″! I started to tune it a little in my spare time between recording piano tracks! 🙂

I had my last 2 PL’s brace height at 7 and 1/2 and nock set a 1/2″ above shelf, so I started with that, using the heavy spined arrows I shoot out of my 54# BW recurve! Bang! perfect match!

When I switched to the lighter spined arrows I shot out of my 55# Shrew, I had to go down 50gr in point weight and there! I had another perfect match!

The bow of course is a dream to shoot, smooth and hard hittin’!! When I get my SBD strings, it’s gonna be right on for sure!!

Very nice Alex! That bow is in for some amazing adventures.

I am building a bow for myself right now using Ironwood and hickory in the riser and Shedua veneers. It will be about the same in specs as yours as far as draw weight and length at 62″. It will be my first attempt at a take-down sleeve similar to the BW design. I have always loved their bows but have not had the pleasure of owning one.

Thanks Cameron! You might not have the pleasure to own one, but you have the knowledge and ability to make your own, which I’m sure gives you immense pleasure! I know it would me!! Let us see it once completed!

I’ve watched Big Jim’s video on making the sleeve. Thought about trying it myself. Take some pictures as you go in case you want to share. Sure would like to hear how it goes….

Great looking bow Alex !!! Would never know it’s a takedown except for the 16129. TD . Great photos as well. Having a little trouble figuring out the back drop , something with a dark back is as close as I can come ??? Bruce

Bruce, that’s a Queen size blanket made from the hides of about a dozen of Tibetan goats.

I’m so close to picking up the phone to the folks at Black Widow but I really have to reign it in,family commitments.

And you really arnt making it any easier.

                                  Enjoy Alex.

That white outline sure does look sharp compared to the red! Really gives it a clean look. Gotta love a new BW! Congrats on the new bow!
